A faster and clearer way to evaluate and approve data centre proposals
Project Overview
This project was created during a design hackathon focused on solving a real government problem.
The challenge was to improve how Ontario could review and approve data centre proposals. These projects are complicated because they affect electricity usage, jobs, environmental impact, and grid capacity.
Current approval processes are slow and require a lot of manual review.
Our team designed a system to help decision-makers review proposals faster while keeping decisions fair and transparent.

My Role
As the Design Lead, I oversaw the global e-commerce redesign, identified problems with the customer service team, analysed shopper behaviour using Contentsquare, and developed a strategy with project managers.
I also defined an iterative test plan and used Usertesting.com for usability and navigation tree testing to enhance the user experience and global brand presence.
Reviewing data centre proposals takes too long.

Because everything is reviewed manually, the process becomes slow, inconsistent, and hard to scale.
A better system was needed to speed up decisions without lowering quality.
Solutions
We created a global design system to ensure consistency across regions. Collaborating with the customer service team, we identified problem areas and analysed shopper behaviours using Contentsquare.
We validated design decisions with Baymard research findings and applied high-performing e-commerce designs. Through user testing and industry best practices, we optimised the homepage, category, and product detail pages, and developed a seamless checkout experience.
Enhancements to the UI library and design system improved design efficiency and ensured brand consistency.
